This is an original Second World War Air Ministry Pilot’s or Navigator’s stopwatch. They tended to be used on larger aircraft as an alternative to a wristwatch.
It is made in heavy white metal with a white enamel dial with black and red figures. It has a subsidiary 30 minute dial. It is Swiss Made.
It is stamped on the rear with the King’s crown and AM (Air Ministry) with the stores reference number “6B/117” and serial no. “1688/40”.
Size: 5cm (excluding the winder) x 1.5cm
It is in used secondhand condition with a small dent on the rear. It is not currently working and we are not sure why: it hasn’t been serviced or polished.
This is a great little item for collectors of watches and WWII militaria.
Instructions for use.
We hope someone out there has the ‘time’ to give this lovely old watch the attention it needs to get it working again.
There is a winder button to the top which, when depressed, the larger hand moves around the outer dial. One cycle being one minute. The smaller hand moves slower showing minutes completed in 3 minute intervals. If the top winder button is depressed during this cycle the hand will stop and if depressed a second time will return to start.
